'Leno' books Seinfeld as first guest
Comic to make appearance on Sept. 14 debut
For Jay Leno, chatting up his longtime friend Jerry Seinfeld on the first installment of “The Jay Leno Show” makes perfect sense. Both have a love of exotic cars, and each has made a mint on iconic Peacock shows.
Seinfeld, announced Friday as the first guest on NBC’s primetime strip when it debuts Sept. 14, is making a major splash this fall after being on a TV hiatus since the final original episode of “Seinfeld” aired more than 11 years ago.
The comedian also will appear on HBO later this year as he and the rest of the “Seinfeld” troupe will co-star on Larry David’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” In addition, he has reality show “The Marriage Ref” set for NBC at midseason.
Seinfeld will likely do standup on “Leno” and possibly race cars in the NBC parking lot -- a bit the show will probably go to often.
Also appearing on the first show will be musical acts Jay-Z, Kanye West and Rihanna.
